Transportation
The region’s strategic location with excellent transportation links includes access to NAFTA superhighways 401, 402, and 403;. Three major US/Canada border corridors: Port Huron, Detroit, Michigan and New York.

The Ports of Hamilton and Windsor provides East Coast and Midwest access via the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes.

The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) provides freight transportation services over a 14,000 - mile network in Canada and the U.S. Canadian National Rail (CN Rail) has specialized to provide door-to-door logistics solutions for wind turbines, and passes right through the region.

Strong home market for wind energy
Ontario has set renewable energy targets of 10% additional new renewable energy capacity by 2011 and to increase of amount of electricity drawn from renewable sources to 15,700 MW by 2025.The new Ontario Green Energy Act provides a Feed in Tariff Act similar to the successful German FIT.

Proximity to major wind farm developments and population centres
Located close to major wind energy sites along the windy shorelines of the Great Lakes on both sites of the Canada-US border and major population centres, the region is destined to become a major wind energy cluster.
